On February 16, 1940, the British destroyer Cossack entered Norwegian territorial waters and forced the German ship Altmark to release all British prisoners held below deck. Hitler realised that Norway's neutrality could no longer be counted on, nor for that matter could Denmark's.
Despite British intervention in Norway, both countries were soon under Nazi control.
Men and women, daily facing internment and death, formed resistance movements in both countries. Their courage sets the backdrop for this tale of one man's resolute battle against the cruel German forces occupying both countries.
