Synopsis
Camped on the shores of divast billabong in the hunting plains of northern Australia, Gregory Landen, a happy drop-out, shoots crocs and bothers no-one. But his peace is wrecked by the breakdown of a car carrying two men and a girl - four day's walk away from help
For all his anonymity and unworldliness, to both men Lander is a danger. He has seen their crime syndicater's plane land and take off at night at a nearby airstrip He must be removed.
As Lander and Taffy hunt crocodiles together, absorbed in a growing mutual attraction, they are unaware of the threat awaiting them back at the camp. Finally the tension cracks and Lander's destiny confronts him in a scene of cold savagery among the hidden dangers of the water's edge.
